Back down the hill this morning, with the aim of getting to Carrefour in Ouarzazate to restock the fridge. By the time we rolled in to this huge sprawl of a town, we had other problems. The sensor telling us that the rear tyre had once again de-flated.
Needing to address our hunger first, we pulled up on the roadside opposite the supermarket. The proper parking was undercover, so this was our only option. Guided in to a space by the ‘would be’ gardian, 70p ensured that he’d keep an eye on things.
Not a very satisfying shop. It being Carrefour, there were quite a few nice French things that we picked up then dropped like a hot brick once we saw the price. Fruit and vegetables cheap but not great, but managed to get yoghurts and a few other bits and bobs. Best of all, they sold wine. This was a big Brucie bonus as we’re running out. Prices on a par with UK though, if not more, so only got three bottles…we’ll have to get some thimbles to drink out of!
Dashed across the road with the supermarket trolley – felt like we were stealing it but no-one batted an eyelid.
Just around the corner was a tyre place with good reviews, so we went to see if they could do us a ‘make do and mend.’
They looked at it straight away and found the tiny puncture, but there were various other scrapes and scuffs as expected. All fixed in about 15 mins for the princely sum of £3 – Guy gave him £10.
Off to another campsite next, to get some washing done, but it’s already gone 3pm and oh no ..the tyre’s lost pressure again.
Rest of the afternoon spent watching Guy trying to extract the spare wheel from under the middle of the van- what a stupid place to store it! Then out with the jack and a wheel change followed while I tried to find line space for our two gigantic loads of washing.

Although we’ve not seen much of it, Ouarzazate and the area around is quite famous. There are lots of film studios and big hotels, as this is where, among others, Gladiator, Black Hawk Down and a few scenes from Games of Thrones were filmed. Probably tomorrow we’ll have a look around Aït Benhaddou where the ksar has been used in various other films.
