We had a lovely afternoon and evening yesterday with friends, David and Suzanne.
We met in the beautiful Alameda park in the centre of Marbella, then went for an all afternoon tapas extravaganza at Paladar Taberna. Our favourite dish by far was the rice with pork and bone marrow – never tasted anything quite like it..delish!
Later on, we were kidnapped and taken up to Suzanne and David’s house in the hills – it happened to be just inland from our campsite. What a place to live! Spectacular views and a pool too – we’re well jel!

Thankfully, we got a lift home back down the zig-zag road to the coast as well.
This morning, we started to make tracks back up through Spain and failed really. 🤣
Stopped at the Jardin Botánico, just inland from Malaga. Had a lovely walk in the shade looking at the exotic plants and trees. It was bigger than we thought though, 23 hectares, much of it planted in the nineteenth century.

Suddenly it’s mid afternoon and we’re sort of passing by the natural park of El Torcal which is full of weird and wonderful rock formations and also, usually, Spanish Ibex. So, off we went on another detour by a creative cross country route.
Walked our legs off following all the different trails through the park, often with a tour group breathing down our necks along the way.

Guy was very interested in what the Malaga Bomberos were up to. They came flying past us on the road up and then ran past us on foot all in formation. We never did get to see what the incident was.

We’ve been here in both rainy and cold weather before and have always seen lots of quite tame Ibex, but sadly, not today. Just one in the distance. Thinking they must retreat to a quieter area in the summer as there’s hoards of visitors today and they’re not the quiet type!
