It was a bit noisy early this morning between the road and the train line, 😬but I think we’d park there again as it was so close to the town.

We walked back into Ypres this morning…it’s such a lovely town with some beautiful buildings, especially the In Flanders Fields museum. Had a look in the cathedral; it had some quite weird sculptures on display.

It was a sunny day, so we walked through parkland around the outskirts of the town on our way back to the van.

In the afternoon we had to search the big supermarkets for our favourite coffee which took up quite a bit of time. Got diesel too though and at €1.77 it certainly was cheaper than Luxembourg.

Made our way to Calais and just as we were approaching the motorhome parking, we suddenly decided to go and see the Town Hall in the city centre. Couldn’t be bothered with the walk, so we just drove to it. Amazingly you can park right outside on the cobbles! Another striking building with its 72 metre belfry in red brick and white limestone. We’ve been through Calais so many times now but never actually ventured into the city centre for some reason. Maybe we’ll come back on foot another time.

Parked up now in the secure motorhome aire ready for the tunnel in the morning. It’s so secure in fact, that you can’t get out on foot to put your rubbish on the bins!
