Glad we did the cable car yesterday as it was quite windy this morning and we wouldn’t have fancied doing it with added swing!

Couldn’t decide which route to take as we wanted to be on the other side of the mountains today. In the end we drove south to Riaño then back up the other side. We thought it would be an easy drive but no, quite the opposite – definitely an up and over with top notch scenery all the way.

Riaño is in a beautiful setting surrounded by the mountains which reflect off the lake like a mirror when the sun shines. We learned today that it’s actually a new town as they flooded the old one to create a hydro electric dam and reservoir. Forced relocation for the residents back in the eighties.

This afternoon, we drove up a slightly easier road then turned into mountains again. We are trying to get to the start of a walk through the Cares Gorge but it’s proving difficult. We’ve driven as far as we can before the ‘no motorhomes’ sign but it’s another 9km to the start. In summer, taxis run frequently but struggling to find one at this time of year. We even tried to ask a local lady who was out polishing her stoep. Our Spanish is not improving very much unfortunately. She did give us a number but it could be for the vets seeing as the only thing we’ve said anywhere near correctly is “nice house’ and ‘your dog is calm’! 🤣 After various phone calls we got a price in the end- €30 each way. I think not. We’ll walk!

Parked on a brilliant motorhome site again for £8.50ish including electricity. Another bargain.

Looks Fab. 30€ each way….quite right..no chance!
Great commentary and pics as always.
