Well, yesterday was a complete wash out. Torrential rain all day and we just happened to be in the worst area (Serranía de Ronda)for it. Apparently, it was the most rain in one day in February since records began!
After driving up towards Ronda, we decided it wasn’t worth getting soaked so pulled in at another viewpoint for the rest of the day. We even did cleaning!
Looked like it was starting to clear this morning so we headed up to Ronda – one of Spain’s oldest towns with a stunning bridge. The van parking choices all seemed a bit dodgy with reports of theft etc. so we knew it was going to be a run in, run out, job for another quick look at the bridge.
As there seemed to be a newly made viewpoint down in the gorge below, we decided to try and get to it in the van. At this point Guy’s phone couldn’t decide where we should go and when we did find the right route, it was far too narrow for a motorhome. Gave up. Raining anyway.

Looking for the nearest service point, we retraced most of our steps and landed just below the village of Jimera de Líbar.

Luckily the weather started to clear up and we were able to get a nice walk in by the River Guadiaro.
After several attempts to find the right path, we came to a complete stop about two miles in as the waterfall, which I assume is normally a trickle, seemed to have burst out everywhere and consumed the track. U turn.
Guy had seen a Kingfisher and was in full twitcher mode as we made our way back through the mud. As usual, nowhere to be seen once the camera was ready!
