Cut across country to join the motorway this morning, although with hindsight, I think we missed some good bits on the coast. Both really tired đ€ as we were kept awake by a gang of mosquitos last night. Weâve taken to counting up the bites to see who needs the most sympathy!đ Called at Lidl as we were nearly out of drinking water and Guys favourite biscuits! Seemed to get to Salerno quite quickly, so we thought weâd try and park by the port and have a look around. No chance – it was all a bit high rise anyway so we drove out to Ikea!!! No, we havenât gone mad – needed a couple of folding chairs etc for when the boys come next week. We were surprised to see a couple walking round with a dog đ …wish weâd taken Rufus in – heâd love to have a wee on a Klippan!đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł After a bit of deliberation, it seemed next stop must be Pompeii. Hadnât realised the phone nav was set on âavoid motorwaysâ so it was crash, bang, wallop along the rickety roads till we realised about twenty miles later! The first campsite âșïž outside the entrance to Pompeii was full so we went next door. We are squeezed into the tiniest space with barely room for the table and chairs for the princely sum of âŹ30 per night! The whole place is really busy and feels horrid after the tranquility of the last few days in Tropea, but itâs a means to an end and I think – quite by chance – the first Sunday of every month is free entry. Looks like weâll have to get up early tomorrow.
