Woke up really late again – must be the mountain air. Back 14 miles up the single track road, then had a near disaster. Guy turned into what he thought was a car park, but it was a very rocky, rutted, pot holed lay-by. Seemed to get stuck almost immediately and couldn’t turn around. I had visions of us having to be towed out 😮. Managed to reverse back on to the main road eventually with more clutch burning smell (Sorry Pete!) and a few loud bangs as rocks hit underneath. We need a 4×4 I think!

A little further down the road, we managed to park without issue. Had lunch but both could’ve done with a drink!

Set off with boots on and walking pole to explore the Hidden Valley or Glen or whatever it’s called. This soon turned into another nightmare for me – alarm bells always start ringing when I see steel wires attached to rocks to help you up. To my way of thinking, that’s when a walk becomes a climb. There were a few Bambi leg moments where I had to have help to get around the rocks …I was not happy. I think there was some pretty spectacular scenery but I was too busy trying to put my feet in the right places to look! 🙄

When we reached the actual valley, the ground was flat and it was a great view looking towards the ravine. Coming back down towards the van we realised we’d left the big roof vent open…anyone could’ve abseiled in! Time for wine – big glass!
