Because Guy had had two and a half days rest on a campsite, he chose the smallest, wriggliest, narrowest road he could find for a challenging drive up through the Sila National Park. Add in some tiny village streets, 8 degrees of coldness and really dense fog at the top of a mountain and you can see that my pain was complete! We stopped by a lake at lunchtime and put on many layers of clothing. Rufus enjoyed a scamper through the woods but stray dogs kept popping up everywhere and he wasn’t keen on any of them really. Then, it started to rain. 🙄Eventually, after 57,000 bends we hit the motorway and drove south to Pizzo. Phone nav brought us in from the wrong side and the place we were going to stay didn’t look inviting. We drove on to Marina Di Zambrone – jackpot! Parked right on the beach & we’ve sat and watched the sun go down counting our blessings! Oh, and a digger came along the beach just in front of us – think the one from yesterday may have followed us. 🚜🏖
