We went for a walk down by the riverside this morning – it was freezing cold in the shade, which was a surprise after it being so hot last night. We saw lots of different birds but mainly herons along the way.

Eventually we came to a big, white sand beach which wouldn’t look out of place in the Caribbean. A local man told us that it appeared overnight after heavy rains with flooding in March this year. It has now, apparently, become a bit of a tourist attraction! No photos of it unfortunately as Guy only had the zoom lens for birdwatching.🙄

Upon our return, we had to quickly negotiate our way out of the very tightly packed carpark as it was down to ‘one in, one out’ and people were waiting.
Off to Lidl next for a re-stock, resisting both bread and pain au chocolates 😭
On the road then, up towards Madrid, around the ring road and out to the north east, finally landing in Sigüenza late afternoon.
Fabulous free motorhome parking with services here just on the edge of town.
Not sure if it was because it’s Monday or too early in the evening but Sigüenza seemed to be fast asleep. Hardly anyone around even in the Plaza Mayor – not many places open either.

Had a look at the big bulky cathedral and walked up to the castle, which has been converted into a Parador (swanky hotel).

A bit cold to be hanging around though, so beat a hasty retreat back to the van to eat the cod which turned out to be hake. At least it wasn’t salted! 😂

To Sigüenza 19/5/25
