Sango Bay Viewpoint

Rude awakening at 7:30am this morning when Bob the Builder turned up, along with Scoop, Muck and Dizzy 😂 We were kind of half expecting it – think we got stitched up by the Leisure Centre who said it’d be ok to park there. After a quick look through the net curtains 😆we realised we were the only motorhome left, so made a sharp exit.

Covered a lot of ground today to get up to the north coast. The roads have been really tricky at times, but the scenery is stunning.

First stop, Achmelvich Bay. Probably one of the nicest beaches to date – white sand, turquoise sea and sand dunes, ticks every box for me.

We walked over the rocks to see the famous Hermit’s Castle – odd. Looked like a new build to us! 😂

We did get a distant view of the dome shaped Suilven Mountain though – been trying to see it since we caught a glimpse of it up in Lewis.

Following the narrow coast road round, we ended up at Kylesku Bridge for lunch.

Carried on up to Sango Bay in Durness. Wild and windy but what a beautiful area. Managed to get on a campsite – the owner reluctantly squeezed us in, even though there seemed to be lots of space. Reckons he’s been booked up since April, felt like I should apologise for wanting to give him money 🙄

Beautiful beaches all around with massive waves rolling in. We walked to see Smoo Cave which was extraordinary as it had a deafening waterfall inside it.

Back up to our spot on the headland. Listening to the waves crashing and Guy is on Aurora watch!

Up to the Top – Durness
