Short drive this morning to the hilltop town of Vejer de la Frontera. We’ve been here twice before and it has to be one of the most beautiful white towns in Andalucia.
There are views out over the surrounding countryside, but you can also look down into the central square which has a lovely fountain decorated with mosaic tiles and surrounded with heavily laden orange trees and tall palms.

Always fancied having lunch here but it’s been far too busy on previous visits. Today however..a few free tables. We were there like a shot – it is Valentines Day after all! The sun came out for us too!

In the afternoon we came back down to earth with a trip to Lidl which was in the town of Barbate on the coast. We had planned to park here for the night but didn’t much like the look of the place – it was a bit scruffy with lots of rubbish blowing around.
After lots of debate, we carried on down the coast for a while, checking out different parking spots. The local scammers here wear hire vis jackets and collect parking charges when the parking is usually free out of season!
Got a quiet spot facing the beach just south of Zahara de los Atunes. Had a great walk along a virtually empty beach dodging the unpredictable Atlantic waves and squinting at the horizon to see Morocco.
