Feeling like a bit of a day off and because we like the campsite we decided to have another day here. The weather was a bit unsure of itself but eventually settled on sunshine by mid afternoon.

In my head I thought we were going for a little wander along the beach but once I saw the lunch going into a rucksack, I knew there was probably a bit more to it.

We went in search of a huge lagoon that attracts loads of different kinds of migratory birds and other wildlife. It was a flat walk all the way but not particularly picturesque. The area around Les Gavines definitely reminded us of Chernobyl. A sixties urbanisation project I believe, comprising of several groups of tower blocks – so weird as there’s nothing else there.

Eventually, we came out onto a main road next to the lagoon but couldn’t really find a way in and there didn’t seem to be a path around it either. In the end, we walked back towards the beach and settled for the much smaller Llac del Pujol where Guy managed to get a few bird photos.

Having already done several miles, we were dragging our heels a bit by the time we stumbled across the one and only open beach restaurant. Trouble was it looked a bit posh for our shorts and walking boots ensemble. They let us in anyway, so we sat down on the cream leather sofas and had a caffeine injection 😂

When we finally landed at the campsite, 12 miles done, the sun was still out so we got the chairs out and made the most of the last hour.
