Well, now that weâve acclimatised ourselves to that 40 degree stuff, we thought weâd head for Greece and see what itâs like in the van. Itâs hot!! âYou wanted to go to Greeceâ says the melting husband. âYes, but weâre only in Belgium đâ- sure itâll be much cooler by the sea đŹ
We crossed on the tunnel last night. No queues or traffic issues thankfully. Stayed overnight in the very peaceful village of Esquelbecq, then set off early ish this morning towards Dinant. Put a bit of diesel in en route to keep us going until we reach Luxembourg, where we are hoping to fill up with some super cheap stuff.
We parked at Mons around lunchtime and went for an explore. Quite a nice city with a cobbled square – the Grand Place, at its centre. We somehow managed to walk ourselves into the druggy quarter though which put us off a bit. Only frites seemed to be on offer at the cafes so we came back to the van for lunch.
Good roads mostly on the way to Dinant this afternoon. Parked by the River Meuse, then walked alongside it into the beautiful town. Backed by steep cliffs with a citadel perched high above, itâs a picture postcard place.
On a cooler day, we would have been tempted to walk up to said citadel, but in this heat? I think ânonâ.
An Aperol Spritz by the river is always a good idea!
