Slow start this morning; we didn’t sleep very well at the busy truck stop/let your dogs bark all night place.😬 Took the slow road to Lisbon followed by a bit of motorway and then a fantastic bridge into the city. Parked for free (we think!) at the port and we are only about 15 minutes walk away from the city centre. There seemed to be so much to see and Rufus was never going to make it round, so we asked at the tourist office if he’d be allowed on a tram 🚃. Although she thought he was very cute, she was very doubtful. In the end we managed to get him on an electric tuk tuk for a tour of the city’s best bits. Some amazing views from the top of the hill and we got off and wandered through some really narrow back streets in the Alfama district – it felt almost mediaeval apart from the really dodgy characters hanging out of the shop doorways. We have yet to try the strong cherry brandy stuff they’re all selling in chocolate cups…was worried that I might fall out of the tuk tuk with Rufus. Doggo is once again a celebrity in Lisbon – we get stopped every two minutes by people asking if they can take his photo or stroke him. He only bites them if they don’t do it properly i.e. under the chin!! Fab afternoon all in all. Think we like it here, it has shades of SanFrancisco (mini Golden Gate Bridge) and Rio de Janeiro (similar Christ the Redeemer statue) all rolled in to one. Never been to those places mind you, just guessing. Bit cooler today and we even saw Christmas decorations! Might brave the shops tomorrow. Church photos and cloud for Mr Simpson. 😂
