Quite a noisy night but we were parked just outside the city walls!

I thought it had snowed this morning but it was just a heavy frost. There’s been a bit of breeze all day too, giving it the full on wind chill factor.

Guy has driven for most of the day. We’ve been trying to avoid tolls as we’re not in any big rush but it sometimes becomes a bit tedious when there’s enough roundabouts to rival Milton Keynes!

We crossed the Loire at Saumur, then stopped near Poitiers for lunch and a Lidl shop. Continuing south, we reached Angoulême around 5pm.

After circumnavigating the whole city and coming very close to the narrow streets of the old town, we eventually parked down by the river. It felt too cold to walk about but as we’d been sat down all day, it seemed kind of necessary.

A twenty minute steep walk brought us up to the cathedral and the old town – although we’re still not sure if we’ve seen the right bit of it or not. As the city is a world leader for comic books, the Rough Guide said we would see murals and comic strips on the walls – we didn’t! Nice town, but not a patch on Le Mans. So cold walking back downhill- glad we topped up with LPG today!
