Meandered down the coast road for a while this morning and ended up parking above a tiny little port.
We had a walk down a steep road to the scruffiest, messiest, tangle of fishing gear I’ve ever seen!
I followed Guy down along a concrete pier thing that went out to sea. It was quite wide I suppose, a bit more than a metre, but with sea both sides at one point, I had the urge to crawl across it rather than walk! I stayed upright…just in case anyone was watching! Such powerful waves, it seemed a strange place to have a port anyway – I don’t know how you’d get a boat out of there.

Had lunch and then carried on south to Praia de Bordeira, a spectacular sweep of a beach, with a river and dunes, but also surrounded by rocks where the waves were at their wildest today. We couldn’t get across to the beach as the river was in the way, so we walked up onto the headland instead where there were paths and boardwalks leading out to various viewpoints. With the sun shining and the wind blowing, it was a bit like being in Cornwall.
There was so much to see, we ended up doing a circular walk and didn’t get back to the van until wine o clock. Unfortunately, we couldn’t stay in the carpark as it’s a national park area so had to drive on a bit further.
Now in a designated motorhome spot courtesy of Aldi in Vila de Bispo. The view isn’t as good but at least we won’t get moved on.
