A driving day today but what a drive! Followed the coastal road heading for Maratea. Spectacular scenery nearly all the way. Very steep narrow bendy roads giving great views but little chance of getting down to the tiny coves below. Because of a railway line running between us and the coast we found it impossible to stop anywhere scenic for lunch. Ended up in a lay-by! We stopped at Marina Di Maratea and managed to park at the train station. It was a bit eerie as it seemed to be disused. According to the book, this was supposed to be where the rich elite come with their yachts, but we couldn’t find anything other than a tiny beach with a fine example of a woman in back to front bikini bottoms. 😂 Drove a bit further on and found a nice little port but nowhere to park for the night. No choice but to carry on – more bendy roads, till we ended up here in Sapri, a lovely little seaside town, just in time for the Friday night passeggiata. What else could we do but join in. Walked along the prom with an ice cream (and Rufus), then sat down for an Aperol with a few eighties hits to listen to – brill! 👍👍👍
