Got up early 😴so that we could be at the nearest vets for 9am ish, to try and get Rufus seen straight away for his tapeworm tablet. Seemed like an easier option than making an appointment 150 miles in advance as we’ve done before. Success – a two minute job costing €41 euros. Guy gave Rufus the tablet wrapped in ham and the vet thought better than to examine him properly as he threatened to rip her arm off. He’s so cute and cuddly our dog!! Guy drove up the windy boring motorway to Reims. Managed to park 10 mins walk from the cathedral. It was huge and pretty spectacular. Bit of a sign of the times though, when there’s four heavily armed soldiers outside scanning the whole area. Back to the van to do a bit more driving – we were heading towards Saint-Quentin when we saw another huge cathedral from the road. We decided to go and have a look. Ended up parking for the night in this lovely mediaeval town called Laon. Cathedral was almost as good as Reims and there was a beautiful street of old shops (mostly closed – it’s Monday!) almost completely covered in brightly coloured umbrellas hung above it. We’re parked by the city walls looking down on a landscape that looks just a little bit like England.
