6A05E7E9-3D71-48A9-B80A-8D245A7820A6A slight disappointment as this is one of the best known fjords but the scenery was nowhere near as dramatic as the ones further north. It’s been quite a dull rainy day too, so that didn’t help.
The fjord is massive, flanked by rolling hills for the main part with fruit trees and houses dotted most of the way.
We drove along the north coast and then crossed the top end of the fjord by means of another entertaining tunnel, followed by a long suspension bridge. The 7.8 km tunnel had a roundabout in it, all lit up in blue – I thought a spaceship had landed underground!802C21CA-CF14-4C47-B51B-6218E0267414
At the end of the bridge we turned south down the edge of the Sørfjord which branches off Hardanger. Hard driving for Mr Bramley as the road was a bit shelf like for much of the way with plenty of lorries in a hurry.3484A878-6443-43C0-A760-8203272F7AEB
We parked up at Odda and tried to use the launderette available at the tourist office, but they were closing at 4pm and it was 3:30 ish. Nearly got stuck in a harbour trying to park outside as well! 35F17912-66AE-4DB7-89C1-C7B5779B2A71
Washing abandoned, we set off for a walk. Got distracted with a game of outdoor chess after a few hundred yards. It was only half way through when we realised the pieces hadn’t been set up properly in the first place! Of course, this gave Guy an unfair advantage and soon it was check mate! 😆
Carried on with a proper walk then, up the side of a raging torrent until we finally reached the lake at the top. Down came the rain again but consolation prize upon our return – we’ve been to Vinmonopolet! 😉🍷🍷🍷
