It’s a good job we were parked behind a grass bank as it was really windy in the night. Add to that the sound of the lorries’ refrigeration units and the fact that someone left the heating on at 21C makes for not much sleep. We had to get to the ferry port for 10am so no lie-ins to be had. ☹️
Despite some really choppy water, this was the smoothest, quietest ferry we’ve ever been on. A hybrid, no less, uses a diesel generator to charge the batteries which power the engines. (As if I knew that! 😉) Stayed in the van as we were parked at the front with sea view anyway. 😁 Just 45 minutes later and we were in Germany.
We got to Lübeck for lunchtime and from a distance, the town almost looked like Prague…loads of church spires. The sun was shining and it was warm! We put shorts on, and I could see Guy eyeing his hairy legs with disdain. He knows, however, that if he so much as touches the razor when his bike is in the garage 1000 miles away – his motives would be highly questionable! 😂😂😂🚴🏻♂️
The town was really nice, lots of old cobbled streets and marzipan shops. We met a twelve year old Airedale ambling along which made us think of Rufus – again, and how much we miss him.
Drove on mid afternoon calling at Lidl for some food and wine …sooo cheap! Ended up at a leisure centre close to Bremen, it was hard going on the motorways, they’re so full of lorries – back to reality!
