The weather has calmed down today and we’ve had glorious sunshine – quite warm at times too. The sea isn’t calm yet though, and we’ve encountered further devastation as we’ve driven along the coast. The beaches are just full of wood that the sea has thrown out. Quite a few tiles missing off roofs as well.

We parked a mile or so outside Finale Ligure and walked along the coast with brilliant sunshine and crashing waves. The town looked lovely, but we went straight through then turned inland to walk up to the mediaeval village of Finalborgo.

Lovely place; not many people around today though. We decided not to walk up to the castle – looked like a mammoth trek, so instead sat on a bench in the sun to eat our homemade sandwiches! 😂

We’d notched up a few miles by now, so promised ourselves an ice cream when we got back to the coast.

Back down in the town, we had a look around the fabulous church then got entertained by a bed being delivered to an upper floor apartment. A truck arrived with a lift thing on it and all items were passed through the upstairs window – suppose it’s the only way if you have a narrow entrance hall!

There was a lovely square on the seafront and a promenade that went for miles. The evening passeggiata must be exhausting.

Back to the van, then drove along the coast a little way to find parking. There’s an Italian couple in a motorhome here and Guy asked if they’d stayed overnight and if it was ok. Apparently it’s ‘tranquillo‘ and they’ve been here 7 nights!!
