Out of the Mountains and on to the Coast

Any ideas of more walking went out of the window this morning when it started raining. There was also a fresh dusting of snow on the mountains and as the car park filled up we thought it was time to make a sharp exit.

We came out onto the coast at Ribadesella, which is an old port split in two by the Sella River. I could tell that Guy was a little uninspired, but encouraged him to walk at least to edge of the sea. There was a little buzz of excitement in the town as a classic car rally was about to begin. Not sure if it was fancy dress!?

Back at the van, we had lunch then moved on to the town of Colunga. It looked quite nice, but the streets were far too narrow for our big white box, so we carried on to Llastres. A good stretch of the legs as we walked down a gazillion steps through the old part of town which tumbles down a steep cliff side to a harbour. The sun was shining and it was almost Mediterranean for a while.

Unfortunately, the parking wasn’t great…more like a field for motorhomes, so we decided to head for a campsite.

We’re now just west of Gijón at Camping Perlora near the little town of Candás. Got a lovely spot overlooking the wild sea. Washing washed and dried and shrunk 🙄Bacalao with tomatoes, olives and capers for dinner with yet another bottle of Lidls finest wine 🍷😂
