Yesterday we took the scenic route to Algodonales. We think we’ve done part of this route before as it climbs up really high and the views are incredible. We stopped to watch some huge birds circling around the mountains – this time we were totally convinced they were eagles. Nope – griffon vultures again. They must retract their necks when they’re flying, that’s all I can say!

Got free motorhome parking with services just outside the town, then went in to meet our friends, Jim and Alexandra, who are here on holiday.

It was really lovely to have some company and we had a great evening with loads of tapas, cervezas and Manzanilla 😊🥂It always amazes us to see families with pushchairs walking in to restaurants at around 10pm, then sitting down to dinner. They do everything so late here! Staggered back about 11:30 and boy was it cold. Can tell we’re up in the mountains!
This morning, we went back to Zahara de la Sierra to visit the castle on Jim & Alexandra’s recommendation. Many steps up to the top but it was fantastic – you could see for miles in every direction.

In the afternoon, we did a long drive back via Arcos and then out to the coast.

We took a convoluted route which turned out to be a bit boring. Eventually, we reached Vejer de la Frontera, but no suitable overnight parking. We had a walk around the town anyway – one of the best, I think. The square, which is more of a circle has to be one of the most beautiful in Europe.

Back on the road, Googlemaps tried to play several tricks on us and it was quite late before we landed in Barbate. Squeezed into a little car park by the sea with a few others …and, relax!

Loving travelling along with you. We’re in the van in Aberlady for a few days…Will help us to remember how the heating works. 😆😆😆
Forget Aberlady – come down here and hopefully you won’t need the heating anyway 😉xx
