A short drive today, just to get us into a more interesting area ie the Black Forest.
Parked up a couple of miles outside the spa town of Baden-Baden. Safe parking and gives us a walk into the town.
It’s a beautiful place full of parks, manicured gardens and promenades. Really reminds you of a time gone by with its ‘well to do’ people and elegant buildings.
We felt decidedly scruffy, especially when we stuck our heads inside the glamorous Art Deco casino.
As we walked along the river, hotel staff were laying tables outside with crisp white tablecloths and you could hear the discreet tinkling of pianos from just inside.
The riverside paths seemed to go on forever and eventually we had to turn around or we might not have made it back to the van.
We decided to fortify ourselves with kaffee und kuchen but it was so warm, it somehow turned into Aperol Spritz and what looked like a pint of mild for Guy. How old am I? Do they even sell that stuff anymore?
