View from Harlech Castle

Gave up with the Mach Loop thing this morning..none of us fancied hiking up and sliding back down in the mud again. Planes seen = 0

Drove to Barmouth and we were very pleasantly surprised. Massive beach, harbour, pretty town, almost sunny…let’s not get carried away here 😂

Walked up the hill out of town and discovered loads of people waiting around with cameras. Thought maybe there was a plane coming over, but no, it was a special train they were waiting for. Plane spotting, train spotting whatever next!? Assuming it was some special steam train about to come over the bridge, we sat down and waited 45 minutes with these strange folk. They all got super excited when it came, but it was,as far as we could see, just a bog standard train – even if it was yellow!

On to Harlech after lunch. Brilliant castle casting its shadow over the road below. Went for a look around and walked down (and up) the worlds steepest street.

The town itself had a lot of places still closed or takeaways only. Such a shame they haven’t survived to cash in on what must be a bumper season for most tourist towns.

Walked out across the fab sand dunes to see the sea again, at which point, we had to beat a hasty retreat as the heavens opened once again. 🙄☔️
