Drove down to the big Tescos in Aberystwyth as our first mission this morning. Couldn’t park though, as most of it was undercover with 3 metres height – we think we’re 2.9m but daren’t risk it. Had to move a bit of metal barrier so Guy could turn us round 😂 Parked across the road and up a bit in the end, so had to carry the shopping back home like ‘off of the olden days 😉
On to Devils Bridge – roads just about wide enough for a good driver. Think it would’ve been very scenic without the drizzle. Had lunch in the car park then it really bucketed down. We just couldn’t face getting soaked again so set off for the Nant-y-Moch Reservoir instead, where we’d been told it was ok to park for the night.
Unfortunately, the road was closed and the detour went for miles and miles ..we gave up!

Carrying on along the main roads, the scenery changed to big hills and mountains and it actually brightened up a bit.

Parked up in a lay-by at what’s known as the Mach Loop just above Machynlleth. It’s an area where RAF planes fly over quite low, as in below you, if you’re up high enough, so good for photographers and plane spotters.

Mistakenly, we thought the rain had stopped, so started to walk up the hill to find the best viewing area. The path was incredibly muddy …even thick sludge in places. Glad I took the walking pole which kept me sort of upright. Mr Bramley however, did a slight back flip on the way down, thus negating yesterday’s clothes washing efforts. 😬 Planes seen = 0
