Followed the road down to the bottom of the Lustrefjord and then got a 10 minute ferry bringing us to the southern side of the Sognefjord..Confused? So are we! Route planning is very challenging here.9D9FBA71-EC00-43FC-B42C-E034889D0FE6

Drove through some long tunnels again in order to get to the Borgund Stave Church. Dating back to 1180, this is one of the better preserved ones and hasn’t had much alteration over the years..also, it’s tiny and looks like the sorting hat from Harry Potter.

I’d seen a sign in the carpark for a circular walk at the back of the church, so since the weather had cleared up we decided to get some exercise. The route took us up to an old road – the Kongevegen, which dated back to the 1700’s with a 1:4 gradient. This route used to link east and west Norway, I wouldn’t have fancied going up there on a horse. There was a sort of mini micro climate at the top – an arctic wind came from nowhere; it was so weird. On the way down we saw a baby snake. Would have thought it would be too cold here for them – he was quite cute though, for a snek! 😂

Avoiding the tunnel back, we took the old ‘historical’ route which went through a gorge and was much nicer. 8651C414-EB59-4026-AA50-3E83216D6890Parked up for the night in the town of Lærdal quite by chance. Big bonus – it had a lovely old town to walk through with painted timber houses and hotels…and a rainbow! 50A7DD61-83EE-459C-B9C0-8B17283B01BAADD7078F-3CBD-4ECC-8840-15921B6519726BB8ACC2-6719-4576-A120-79BF29E9DAAAIt was completely lifeless though, apart from a few Americans arriving on a coach. Most of the towns just seem to lack people really. Perhaps they’re all out hiking a few hills before dinner! 😆🇳🇴
