Decided to get the metro back into the city this morning. It was quite bright and new looking down there and only cost us 80p ish. Difficult to sort out the names of places though – we were going from Nagyvarad Ter to Deak Ferenc Ter! Neither of them are pronounced the way they are spelt!
We then decided to change lines so that we came out on the Buda side of the river. Good views from this side and some interesting stuff like the Fishermen’s Bastion and Buda Castle. Very busy places with coach trips etc. When we reached the castle,we timed it just right for a changing of the guard display. Carried on walking down the opposite side of the river until it didn’t seem worth getting the metro back. Had to stop for coffee once we’d crossed the bridge as it was getting hot and we’d done a few miles walk again. Loafed around for the rest of the afternoon …well I did. Guy has read all of his books, twiddled all his thumbs and shuffled all his feet! 😂 We’ll move on tomorrow. Parts of this huge city are really nice but some of it is a bit grotty to say the least and smells of wee. 😬
