Our third visit here but I think we’ll always make the effort if we are anywhere nearby – we love it!
Boring start to the day with two huge loads of washing done and pegged out, then cleaning 😖
Half way through what was a leisurely lunch, Guy checks the bus times and decides we need to be in the centre of El Puerto at warp speed. We thought we’d missed it, so we asked the other man at the bus stop. Not sure about buses but he mentioned the boat and Michael Robinson …apparently an ex Liverpool player.??
It had been quite warm at the campsite, so there’s me in a dress and Guy in shorts – absolutely everyone else we saw for the rest of the day was dressed in coats, scarves, padded jackets and boots..needless to say, we were frozen 🙄😆
A bus came eventually, and we were transported into the heart of Cadiz. Wandered around the outside edge for a while (my favourite bit) then through the narrow shady streets.

Guy went in the cathedral but I opted to stay outside in the sunshine thinking it would be warmer. The rooftop views look amazing from the bell tower and he really liked the echo chamber in the crypt.

Return buses were few and far between so we had another mad dash and thankfully got on the right one, even though a certain person asked for El Port de La Selva which is up near Girona 😂 When we did reach El Puerto de Santa Maria, we started to notice how much rubbish there was around – the bins were completely overflowing into the streets. We decided there’s either a strike or they’re due tomorrow.

Back at the campsite; the washing is dry, the dogs are barking, the electricity isn’t working, but the kettle’s on to warm us up – gas, thankfully. 😅
