After a lot of deliberation we decided to move. Camping Roma Capitol was ok, but was so vast it lacked atmosphere and the long grass just made us feel like we were stuck in a field somewhere. They were really friendly at the reception and asked if everything was ok – we just said we needed a campsite with a restaurant that was open (for Guy’s birthday). It was also really expensive …would have been so much cheaper with an ACSI card, which we’d stupidly never bothered to order. We decided to ring up and ask if it was possible to get one enroute. Apparently, a lot of campsites do accept an email saying that you’ve ordered one, so that’s what we did.
Guy has driven approximately 4589 miles so far, as opposed to my pitiful effort of about 100 😬!! I am terrified in Italy, stuff comes at you from every direction with no warning and my indecisiveness would, I am sure, result in disaster. Today, however, Mr Bramley has driven approximately 20 miles and I really thought he was going to explode! 😡🤬🤯His liberal use of the horn and “sod it!” attitude tells me he needs a rest. The state of the roads is diabolical – potholes are more like sinkholes here. When we approached a very low bridge, a kilometre or so from this new campsite, it was the final straw. Out of the blue, this lovely Italian man stopped and asked where we were going and said “I’ll take you there, follow me!” Just before the campsite, he stopped, got out and shook Guys hand and promptly told all the other horn honking drivers behind to ‘F off!!!.😂 This campsite is fab, and so much cheaper. We’ve even had a swim in the pool to the sound of some Eurotrash.
