Back out to the coast this morning. We were up early due to all the bells ringing every four hours throughout the night. Fortunately, I didn’t hear most of them – just thought there was an early wedding this morning! 😂 Our very kind Italian neighbours bought us coffee again – far better than anything we could make. We discussed routes for a while without making any sense to each other. Got to Sperlonga late morning … a really nice place with a cooling breeze on the seafront. We then got on a terrible coastal road towards Anzio. We meant to stop at Terracina but missed the turn off. Ended up in Sabaudia for lunch near a shady park. The roads just got worse then, all the way to Anzio. We’d hoped to find a nice campsite somewhere around here but Anzio wasn’t up to much and the rest of the area seemed to be one long road with private beaches on and Skeg like shops. Finally made it to Ostia, where we had a campsite earmarked to stay on when Callum and Jordan come out. The place is massive …over 1000 emplacements but almost empty. Seems a bit expensive but there is a pool and the bathrooms are immaculate…they just need to cut the grass!
