Mr Bramley was up at the crack of dawn honing his photography skills on the lone tree again. Good results …it defo looks more lonely first thing in the morning.
Short drive to Conwy where we managed to park in a dedicated motorhome space. The castle is amazing, totally dominates the town it’s so huge. Nice little place, slightly overrun with us holidaymakers today. We walked around the town walls once we’d found the way in. There was a one way system in place but finding the start was difficult – most people chose to ignore it anyway 🙄
After lunch we visited a motorhome shop to buy some new ramps of the very robust German style. Parking on slopes is ok but we can’t afford another shower leak! Fortunately, they let us fill up with water too so we’re good to go for another few days.
On to Llandudno, and we couldn’t park anywhere at all. More by luck than judgement we ended up on the scenic toll road that goes around the Great Orme. The man that took our money at the gate said there was parking up on the hill near the cafe…amazingly, there was. It’s lovely up here, hardly anyone around and amazing views, but we thought we should go and see the town. Walked across the hill to the tram stop and cable car station – cash only and huge queues. Despite very stiff legs from yesterday’s endeavours we decided to walk down instead.
The seafront at the pier end …wow – so many people, it was bonkers. I was particularly thrilled to come across a proper Punch and Judy show, although Mr Punch sounded like he’d had a few too many Woodbines. 😂
Had a drink in a pizza place whilst we nursed our sore feet, then another, then a pizza…by which time the last tram and cable car had gone back up the hill. 😢Then, a small world thing happened as we bumped into Owen and his girlfriend (the bride’s brother from the wedding we attended in Devon back in July). Think we’ve been following each other up the coast of Wales.
A long walk back as we decided to go around the hill following the road rather than try and walk back up it. Eight miles wasn’t in the plan today – our feet are pulsating !😂
