Both parties very tired today 😂One feels like he’s cycled 100 miles (that’s what walking in sand does for you!) and the other didn’t sleep for some unknown reason.
We dragged ourselves north towards the nearest Lidl, taking the inland route as it looked a little less technical. Pulled up in the carpark next to a van containing a couple we’d stopped and chatted with at the top of Monemvasiá…small world.
Stocked up, then started to drive down the Mani peninsula stopping at the beautiful Valtaki beach where there’s a big carpark half full of camper vans. Had lunch and both fell asleep for a couple of hours – must be getting old!
It was like a different day by late afternoon, the sun was trying to come out and it had warmed up.
We went for a stroll along the beach to look at the amazing rusty shipwreck. This small cargo ship has been stranded on the beach at Valtaki since 1981…it’s now quite a tourist attraction. Apparently all the toxic, environment damaging stuff has been removed, but I still wouldn’t be going inside it like quite a few people did.
Not much signal in the car park,so we took our 6pm glass of wine to the beach. Cheers !🥂
