Slightly warmer this morning. Guy took some photos of ‘As Catedrals’ – the rock formations on the beach below where we were sleeping. Then we set off along the motorway for the Picos de Europa. Think we missed out a lot of interesting bits along the way, but time is running out now, as we have to be back in France on Thursday. As we approached the mountains I could see they were snow capped which caused me a minor panic as I’ve not packed my snow shoes!! We have stopped at a really nice little town called Cangas de Onís …it feels a bit like being in Annecy or somewhere similar. It has a beautiful old roman bridge and lots of little cafes and bars selling cider of all things. Of course it had to be sampled. The waiter came out and poured it from a great height and I think we were supposed to drink it whilst it was still fizzing. We came to this conclusion because he kept throwing away what was left in our glasses when he came to refill them. Came back and ate the remainder of last nights stew and then walked in to town again to see the Christmas lights and soak up the atmosphere. The lights weren’t switched on and nearly everyone had gone home! ☹️
