Last night turned out to be quite eventful. Just as we were going to bed there was a sharp knock at the door. A gendarme advised us that motorhomes are no longer allowed to stay overnight at Cite Europe as they have had a lot of trouble with immigrants trying to get in. We had no choice but to move on.
Eventually we found a place near Wimereux, closed the blinds and went to bed. We hadn’t realised we were right next to the sea, so woke up to a fantastic view. We had a long walk across the windy beach, then reached a town called Ambleteuse , when we suddenly realised we’d been here before! Think it was last year but not sure.
Lovely day for driving but very windy. Came off the route to a town called Gacé to get water only to get stuck behind a ‘convoi exceptionnel ’….it was only a catamaran tilted at a 45 degree angle so it could get through the narrow streets. Nice town though, with an attractive Mairie.
On to Fresnay-sur-Sarthe then and parked up for the night. Lovely Medieval old town on the river. Feeling a tad disappointed that our new oven refuses to cook pizza 😢🙄!
