Just in case anyone might think we’ve disappeared into thin air – it now being Sunday 19th February, thought we’d better finish this trip off properly. Aside from copious quantities of wine, we brought back more than we bargained for, Covid🙄…again!!

It was a long old drive up to Calais from Montluçon. It’s very different doing A roads in a motorhome – you don’t get anywhere fast! We left early and starvation kicked in somewhere around Orleans. Couldn’t find a bread shop anywhere and ended up aiming towards the nearest Lidl which helpfully had a two metre height barrier. Guy parked in a nearby road whilst I went in to join a huge queue of weekly shoppers with just the one baguette! Needless to say, we had lunch parked in the street!

It was getting dark by the time we stopped again for a ten minute supermarket sweep up in Boulogne.

Quiet night in Wissant, then an early train got us back into the UK before 9am.

A relatively easy drive back up the A1 left us wondering where all the lorries had gone. It seems like some of the A roads in France are now chock full of them which is odd. We’ve concluded it’s probably something to do with the new(ish) low emission zones in cities and the very high toll charges.

That’s all for now folks! Back again in April, hopefully, with a return to Greece.
