Just an hours drive into London today, straight up the M2 to a pre-booked campsite at Abbey Wood. From here we got a bus in to Greenwich to see Callum, Jordan and Kristina. What a shock to the system. Jam packed – social distancing? That’s so last month it seems! Fortunately Callum’s birthday cake stayed upright in its tin and got delivered intact.
Was lovely to see the offspring and Greenwich was really nice, bustling with people sat outside bars overlooking the Thames. We had lunch at The Hill, billed as a Mediterranean restaurant but probably more South American. Nice though.
Fed and watered, we realised how busy everywhere was getting when we saw the long queues for the boats. Got on the DLR to Bank …crowds of people everywhere. Think the bank holiday sunshine had bought them all out. Couldn’t really get in anywhere we wanted to go and struggled to find a seat for coffee even.

Came back to Greenwich on a boat. Very busy again but wow – how fast? Like speed boats zipping up and down the river.

Back to Callum’s, now all frozen – cool breeze. Then another packed bus back to Abbey Wood. Phew!
