Not a lot of sleep was had last night. There were some boats moored behind us that were clanking together in the breeze, plus the odd boy racer coming into the car park.
This morning, quite a few people turned up at the little picnic area we were in, and then, a whole coach load. They all went off in little boats on the lake. They’d certainly get a better view of the pelicans.

We drove a little further round, with Guy hoping to get some more close up bird life pictures. We stood in an incredibly noisy area – think it was mainly frogs but also lots of different bird calls. A lady came and almost pushed Guy away from his camera which was on a tripod. She thought it was a public telescope 😂
Then it rained.
We set off towards Halkidhiki and it turned into a very long drive. We abandoned the idea of getting a boat around Mount Athos as the weather was a bit grim. I think this area is green for a reason and it apparently doesn’t really warm up properly until July!
We landed finally in a tiny little place called Pyrgadikia which seems really nice and has a handful of tavernas. We thought we’d go and have a drink so the locals know who’s in the big white box parked on the harbour. A drink turned into snacks turned into a meal. Beautiful Sea Bream, but we somehow ordered one between two 🙄 Good job there was bread to fill up with.

Everyone knows each other here, to the extent that the owners of the taverna just cleared off in the car at one point. Guy was in the process of trying to pay someone’s aunt, when they suddenly reappeared and produced two glasses of Ouzo!
