Strange weather last night. Just before we went to bed, this really hot breeze came out of nowhere. It was suddenly so humid; the temperature gauge said it was 28 degrees outside! It then dawned on us that we didn’t have a fan in the van…someone took it into the garage back home in order to keep cool whilst cycling over imaginary landscapes! 🙄 The same person was sat outside at 2am trying to cool off! Meanwhile the resident mosquito feasted upon my arms and legs. About 5am, the rain came so we had to close all the roof vents but it did cool off eventually.
The campsite owner wasn’t too chuffed with the credit card this morning. Said he likes to have cash so he can buy things! 😬Apparently, he’s hoping for Pippa Middleton to get divorced (doesn’t like Kate!) and he’ll be here waiting for her when she does. 😂I said I’d let her know when I get back to the UK.

Drove about 10km up the road to Kardhamyli. Seems like a nice place with a lovely rocky coastline. Bit rainy for walking around though. Called at the bakery for a loaf of bread – €1..only had a €10 note. “Doesn’t matter” said the lady “comeback tomorrow or whenever”. Fortunately, I found a coin but how kind to just trust people.

After Guy had a power nap 😴 normal service resumed this afternoon with a yomp up into the mountains. Boots and stick got me up the cobbled path to Old Kardhamyli which is a tiny partially restored village with an unusual bell tower.

From there, the climb really began, alongside the Vyros Gorge up to the church of Ayia Sofia. Great views, but the peace was ruined by a group of people with a noisy drone.

Not fancying the steep cobbled path back down, we chose the road , which was more of a never ending, long gentle slope. Turned out to be a good loop round though and we saw yet another huge tortoise.

Feet are pulsating now !😬
