Started off trying to avoid tolls this morning but soon gave up and got on the motorway. It was quite nice driving through the Aosta valley and the weather soon warmed up. 
We made our way towards the bottom of Lake Maggiore on the western side.
Booked in at the cheapest campsite and soon realised why it was cheap! There’s nothing around, it’s a bit scruffy and there’s just a patch of scrubland on the lake shore. Still, we have been able to get two giant loads of washing done and purchased a fold out airer thing from the local shop. Still got two lines full as well 😂 The weather has gone a bit humid though, so it’s not quite dry.
The place is chock full of Italian families with the full set up of gazebos, trestle tables etc. It’s really noisy compared to what we’re used to …ie low season. Didn’t eat till after nine as it was so hot but forgot we’d got the bed to make as well – it’s a hard life!
