So glad we de-camped and came further up the lake this morning.

We followed the coast road and it all suddenly became quite picturesque. The town of Stresa looked lovely but no campsites there really, so we’ve ended up a couple of miles above it at Baveno. It’s like a Victorian seaside town with much Italian style and many ornate villas and hotels.

Lovely open campsite with a gravel beach on the lake. Guy had a dip with his sandals on, but I couldn’t find my ‘sea shoes’ so missed out.

We only lasted about an hour on the beach – melting – so we had a wander along the promenade.

We’d been told at reception that the Italian government had ruled today that face masks have to be worn in all public places after 6pm. Not wanting to add to our heat we made sure we were back at base for 5:30!

We fancied getting the boat to a couple of the islands tomorrow but storms and heavy rain are forecast now! Typical.

It’s quite funny now watching everyone wind in their awnings – think they’ve all just looked at the forecast. 😂

Up the Lake to Baveno
