The fidgety member of the Bramley household thought it would be a good idea to walk into Lazise today. Seeing as it was nearly lunchtime when we had breakfast, I agreed it would be good to do something with the day – my ex-mountain legs still didn’t agree at all!

It was getting hot strolling along the lakeside path and by the time we reached the town (about a mile and a half away), we were melting.

It was market day and the place was brimming with people – just too crowded. We skirted around the edges and went for lunch in the shade at the other end of town.

By the time we came out, everything had been completely packed away and it was like a different place altogether.

It’s quite a big place, with a few open squares, a little castle, a harbour and lots of shops (Gill 😉👠) .

Meandered round in the shade then made our way back and melted again! 😂Thought we’d try out the pool if it wasn’t too busy – it was miles away on the other side of the road. When we got there had to do an immediate about turn as everyone had pool hats on! Back down the steps to the lake, finally got a swim!

Switch off now if you’re bored ‘cos a funny thing happened last night and it may well be that it’s only amusing to us….

We’ve always laughed about the fact that the only two German words that I can really remember from school are kugelschreiber and bleistift (pen and pencil) and I’ve often fancied going into a shop in Germany just to try them out.

Well, last night one of the gang of twenty somethings opposite, sauntered across and said to me “Guten abend, hast du ein kugelschreiber oder ein bleistift bitte?”

We immediately bust out laughing and I looked at Guy thinking he’d set me up i.e. gone over there earlier and said ‘I’ll buy you a drink if you go and ask my wife for a pencil or pen’.

He hadn’t!

The lad thought we were nuts but “Jawohl !!! Ich habe ein bleistift “!!!

Mrs Lambert, it wasn’t a complete waste of time after all!
