Quite a noisy night. We moved the motorhome a bit further away from the fishing action, but was still kept awake half the night by some people talking at the half finished fish stall/ cafe opposite. Having red lights on the toilet and grey water tank and no fresh water left it was time to move. Drove in to Lecce which is supposed to be like the Florence of the south. Haven’t been to Florence (yet) but it was a lot like Rome. Very busy, but nice to wander round till Rufus came to a full stop! The sun had come out!
We then thought we’d do the short drive to the opposite coast and hopefully find somewhere to stay. Phone nav went a bit wrong and we ended up coming back on ourselves. Got stuck in a small village with impossibly narrow streets followed by another u turn. Stopped to top up the LPG ..it was nearly empty and cost all of €6 to fill it….it’s certainly paid for itself! When we finally got to the other coast, most of the motorhome places were closed and the really nice one by the turquoise sea had a gate across that we couldn’t get through. ☹️Thoroughly despondent, we ended up having lunch by the roadside and it was getting super hot. Finally got sorted …seems like we’re on a giant allotment with half of it given over to motorhomes for £15 a night. We were treated to the family owners and their friends sat in the top corner singing all afternoon accompanied by a chap on guitar. It was lovely, but the only one we recognised was Volari. Walked to the beach when it cooled down – really big surf 🌊 which was unexpected. No food in – had to have a tin of cassoulet – perfect on a hot day – not!

Lecce to San Pietro in Bevagna (Somewhere on the Other Coast!)
