Walked up to Ostuni this morning – we were more or less parked next to the old town. A big square with lots of marble underfoot and an impressive church with an intricately painted ceiling. There were so many three wheeled ‘apes’ around on the narrow streets though, it felt like you were taking your life in your hands. It was very hot so we decided to try and find a campsite on the coast for a couple of days instead of going straight to Lecce. By the time I found one, we’d gone past the turn off so we had to go about ten miles back on ourselves. 🙄 It was closed! Apparently, the nearest one open is in Gallipoli. Drove down the coast for a bit …not a very scenic area. Finally, got a parking place looking out over a bit of beach which was deserted till about 3:30pm then everyone appeared. We seem to be parked where they bring all the boats in and out …I don’t think we’re in the way but we are thinking of staying overnight so it could get noisy later when they all come back in.
