Continued north today up the west coast of the Mani. We were on the main road, which is a main road until it hits a town or village, then it becomes a very narrow street with parked cars!
We stopped for a walk around the tiny coastal village of Liméni. Another lovely bay with clear turquoise water, but sometimes these places are almost impossibly beautiful – this was definitely one of them. There were notices up to watch out for sea turtles but we didn’t see any ☹️
Not many places to park after Liméni, so we carried on all the way to Kalamata.
Famed for its olives, we sort of expected this city to be better than it was. Apart from a brilliant local produce shop with a very friendly owner, we felt like we never really found the right bit. It didn’t help that most of the shops were closed when we got there. I think Guy was hoping to get a birthday present for me, but the only thing we managed to get was a new charging lead for the iPad. Apparently, I can use it tonight but then tomorrow it has to be put away ready to be wrapped up! 🙄😂

Disgruntled, we drove on with the aim of parking up a few miles out of the city on our way to Mystra. Unfortunately the road to the parking was closed so we ended up driving through the Nédhondas Gorge.

Plenty of lay-byes but all with fallen rocks in them 😬- not ideal! We now seem to be on top of it all at 1260 metres. It’s 14 degrees – positively Baltic!
