Well that was a wild and windy night in the middle of a flat car park. Such strong gusts – at one point it deposited a load of debris on the roof! Not much sleep to be had, so we got up really late.

Whilst there was free water to be had, Guy surreptitiously washed the sides of the van to get rid of all the sand and clay it had picked up in Bardenas Reales.

We moved on to the ‘not to be missed’ Cistercian monastery of Veruela, about twenty minutes away. Even on that short distance, the van was buffeted by really strong winds. Thankfully, the monastery is fortified around its huge perimeter by really high walls, so we were able to park for the night in a really sheltered spot. Still about 13°c in the sun but snow is forecast tomorrow 😬🥶

The monastery was beautiful in places, especially the cloisters but a lot of it was closed off including the gardens. There were lots of empty rooms with a few displays in them, but nothing to hold our interest for very long. Even the wine museum was a bit boring.

Not wanting to drive again, we had a walk into the nearest town and then did a circular loop back. Just finally got the oven to work again so got over-excited and created a casserole type thing. Now we’re wondering if there’ll be enough gas left to heat the van when it snows tomorrow! 🤣
