Ah …I think we’ve got it sussed now. When the sun goes down, there’s a siren and a call to prayer. Then, everyone eats, drinks, smokes, plays football loudly with audience cheering and the ref’s loud whistle, then a bit of drumming and more cheering, then another siren goes off at 4am and they all go to bed! No wonder the town is hassle free – they’re all worn out from their nocturnal living!
This morning, we walked down through the medina again and out into the newer bit of town to get some money out. We’d been told that the banks situated next door to the post office in any town are the ones that don’t charge a fee to get cash out. The Moroccans are certainly on to this as they were queuing down the street, so we joined them.

As it started to warm up, we visited the Kasbah “Now the king told the boogie men…”🤣🎼 We weren’t sure how much we paid to get in, but now have lots of coins which seem to be more useful than notes! It had beautiful courtyard gardens and a tower to climb up for good views of the town.

Walking back to the campsite, it got even warmer and we were sweating buckets by the time we got back up the hill in trousers, long sleeved tops and coats.

After lunch, we walked up the hill opposite on a dedicated path to the never used Spanish Mosque. It was quite small and not particularly mosque-like but the views of the whole town opposite were brilliant. There was, however, one complete loon up there who was shouting at the trees, the cats, anything and everything. Think he’d smoked a bit too much kif in the Rif 😬We made a sharp exit. Guy decided to cook tandoori chicken outside for dinner. Not sure what the local cats made of that smell!
