Cool night with the fan plugged in so we had good sleeps! Set off towards Varna on what we thought would be a motorway following the coast south. It was more of an A road with more pot holes than Spring Lane! Some creative driving ensued, with most people coming round bends on the wrong side!

Decided not to stop in Varna which was probably a bit of a mistake as there was absolutely nowhere to pull in afterwards.

It was way past our lunchtime by the time we found a lay-by 😂

Eventually, we came through Sunny Beach, an expansive resort on the Black Sea and a bit like Blackpool on speed. Then before we knew it, we were in Nessebar and managed to park surprisingly easily on the peninsula which has the ancient part of the town on it.

A nice place to wander around as it has many historic buildings, mainly churches from different eras. The narrow streets are filled with shops selling everything from fur coats to crotchet table mats. We didn’t think it was as busy as it could have been, with many of the restaurants being empty. Then, as we got back to the van, the car park slowly filled up more and more, with the attendant expertly fitting as many vehicles as possible into the remaining space. It’s a good job we’d decided to stay overnight as we couldn’t get out even if we wanted to!

Sunny Beach is all lit up now across the water. Guy has been out to get some photos but he’s not happy with them as the distance is too far.
