Bit of a crazy night in the motorway rest area. The lorries coming and going were no problem, but when a couple of families turn up in the middle of the night and have a party, it’s a different story. So bizarre, children playing as if it was the middle of the day and some of the worst music ever!
After we’d un-crumpled our faces this morning, we set off for the ancient port city of Constanta. Really flat boring drive all the way, but it wasn’t too busy so we managed to park. Quite amazing to think that we’ve reached the Black Sea! We’d hoped to see the famous Constanta Casino, a beautiful art nouveau building perched on a little promontory. However, it was undergoing major restoration work ( like many other Romanian buildings), and was almost completely wrapped in plastic. We walked along the seafront for a while and then into the town. A few nice buildings, and the sea breeze was lovely.
Back on the crazy roads, where no-one stays in lane, Guy tried to avoid what he thought was a dangling telegraph wire but it whipped up and clobbered the side of the van. There’s a few marks but I think we got away quite lightly.
Pretty straightforward at the Bulgarian border – probably the quickest one we’ve come through. Had to get another E-vignette but they’re not expensive thankfully. Found the nearest camper park but drove the wrong way in ie up a farm track.

Got a bit of peace and quiet tonight hopefully, with the added bonus of being able to plug the fan in. The resident photographer is happy as we are surrounded by hundreds of birds including colourful bee-eaters.

Hiya. Only just found these. I was missing a chunk between 19/8 & end of Aug (on WordPress, not FB), hence I missed Istanbul
