A return to Camping Riberamar for the last couple of days, mainly to get our three loads of washing done.
We arrived about lunchtime on Wednesday after a little more twitching around the Ebro Delta. More herons and flamingos but also a very fascinating (to Guy) water tractor type thing making its way through the paddy fields.

Somehow ended up in a traffic jam on an A road, but we were behind a huge mirror like tanker which made it quite entertaining looking at our reflection for most of the way. 😆

As we approached the campsite, we were once again struck by the high rise grotty surroundings of this still expanding resort that we’d never heard of. The draw is, free padel courts, two pools, beach, cheap washing machines and of course, the nature reserve to the north that contains the Western Swamp Hens!
We met up with Jordan’s old (but not old) football coach, Paul, and his wife Sharon, who were in the area, so we had some nice company for the afternoon and evening. Had a great walk along the beach with Daisy the dog, but sadly, she wasn’t allowed in the nature reserve, so we had to walk the other way into hotel land.
On the way we passed by a bar with live music on and many pensioners dancing their afternoon away to ‘Tina Turner’ – they were having a whale of a time!
Sat outside till midnight putting the world to rights and when the neighbours asked if we were hungover the next day, I suspect we may have been louder than we thought! 🤣🍷
Today, after we’d put the second load of washing out, Guy went to get the key for the padel court. The girl on reception was shocked “You want to play padel now?”
Of course, it was nearly midday and very hot so only mad dogs and Bramleys attempt such a thing.
There’s been no improvement in the last eighteen months but then no practice either, so we were rubbish as expected.
The highlight was when I managed to hit the ball over the very high fence and it dropped straight through the roof of the indoor pool 🤣🤣🤣Fortunately, said roof was open, so we heard it splash, then someone very kindly threw it back ( probably after it hit her on the head!).
It was much too hot, so went for a swim instead.
Tried the sea in the afternoon – it was much warmer than the pool but a bit soupy due to all the seaweed coming in.
The campsite seems to be half empty now, but apparently they are expecting people soon who are booked in for two or three months! The whole area is full of older people – we’ve only seen one family with young children. Seems kind of weird but looking at the huge number of apartments and hotels it must be rammed in the summer.
